Tanning Beds

Tan Beds

For decades now avid tanners have been enjoying the luxury of tanning beds. Since their early days tanning beds have improved rapidly in both quality of tanning and in the technology which makes it all happen. The tanning beds of today offer an unlimited number of features, including facial tanning, side and arm tanning, leg tanning, and even stereo speakers! All this adds up to one great tan, and an enjoyable and relaxing experience.

There are many different styles of tanning beds but the majority fall under two broad categories, low-pressure tanning beds and high-pressure tanning beds. Low-pressure tanning beds many of us are already familiar with; these indoor tanning beds use conventional low-pressure fluorescent tubes which mimic natural sunlight. Tanning in low-pressure tanning beds is similar to tanning outdoors or at the beach. High-pressure tanning beds, however, use high-pressure quarts lamps specially engineered to emit a higher percentage of UVA (tanning rays) and less UVB. The higher UVA content allows for faster tanning, sometimes as much as 6 to 8 times faster, and the reduced UVB component diminishes the chance of getting sun-burned.

The quality and affordability of home tanning beds has greatly improved over the last few years. Many tanners have run the numbers and realized the financial benefits of owning their own tanning bed, not to mention time savings and convenience. They're realizing it makes more sense to purchase their own residential tanning beds rather than visiting local tanning salons.

To meet customer demand tanning salons are increasing their investment in tanning equipment. Those salons determined to stay competitive are offering a choice between high-pressure and low pressure tanning beds. For many salons this investment is paying off, as some of the latest in indoor tanning beds more than satisfies their customer's expectations. In addition many tanning salons have purchased sunless tanning equipment such as spray tanning booths and airbrush tanning systems.
